Marilyn Gerber, Mayor

Marilyn Gerber was appointed commissioner in 1995 and re-elected in 1996, 1999, 2002, 2005,
and most recently in March 2009. She represents District C, which includes all of the Township
east of Lyons Road and north of Copans Road, a small area west of Lyons Road and south of Sample
Road, and the area east of Lyons Road from Sample Road north to Winston Park Boulevard.
A retired teacher, Mrs. Gerber moved to Coconut Creek from New York with her husband,
George, in 1986. He served on the Coconut Creek City Commission until his death
in September 1995. Mrs. Gerber was appointed to fill the remaining six months of his
term, and elected in 1996.
Commissioner Gerber is a recipient of the Broward League of Cities President’s Award for 2004-2005
the B’nai B’rith Woman of Valor Award in 2003. She was honored by the Jewish National
Fund and is Co-Chair of their Annual Breakfast, and is also a member of the Township Cancer
Research Group and the National Council of Jewish Women.

Mikkie Belvedere, Vice Mayor

Mikkie Belvedere was elected to the Commission in March of 2009. She was selected as Vice Mayor in March 2011.
She represents District B, which encompasses Wynmoor Village, Centura Parc and a portion of the Township.
Vice Mayor Belvedere is a financial professional with years of volunteer government experience including
an appointment to Coconut Creek Planning and Zoning Board and Chairing the City's Affordable Housing
Committee and Environmental Advisory Board. She is a member of the Wynmoor Hurricane Emergency Network
and serves as a Charter Member and Ambassador Committee representative for the Coconut Creek Chamber of
Commerce. Vice Mayor Belvedere has been a member of the Broward Mentoring Program for two years, Board member
of The Sisterhood of Liberal Jewish Temple, Board member of a Chapter of The City of Hope, and is
currently the Education Chairperson of the Liberal Jewish Temple.
Vice Mayor Belvedere was born in Israel, lived and attended schools in New York City, lived in St. Thomas, U.S.
Virgin Islands, and has been a resident of Coconut Creek since 1992.
For the past ten years, Vice Mayor Belvedere has volunteered in the Broward County Prime Time Program, reading to children.

Becky Tooley, Commissioner

Becky Tooley was elected to the Commission in 2001 and re-elected in March 2004, 2007, and 2011.
She represents District A, which encompasses the area south of Coconut Creek Parkway to the southern
boundary of the city, and the west side of Lyons Road to just south of Sample Road.
Before her election to the Commission, she served on the City's Environmental Board and Planning
and Zoning Board. She currently serves on the Boards of numerous community organizations, including
the Coconut Creek Woman's Club, Alzheimer's Family Center Board of Trustees, Northwest Medical Center,
Coconut Creek Democratic Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 157. She is a mentor at Coconut
Creek High School through Take Stock in Children, as well as a committee member of Coconut Creek/Margate Relay for
Life, and a member of the City's CERT Team. Commissioner Tooley is employed as a radiology technician
specializing in clinical densitometry and research.

Lou Sarbone, Commissioner

Lou Sarbone was elected to the Commission in 2001 and re-elected in March 2004, 2007
and 2011. He represents District D, which encompasses
the area west of Lyons Road from Sample Road to the Sawgrass Expressway and east of Lyons
Road north of Winston Park Boulevard and including the Sorbet and CocoBay developments north
of the Sawgrass Expressway.
Commissioner Sarbone, a New Jersey native, moved to Coconut Creek in 1989, has served on the
Winston Park Elementary Advisory Board and School Improvement Team, Coconut Creek Parks
& Recreation Advisory Board and Planning & Zoning Advisory Board. He is
employed in the auto finance industry. Mayor Sarbone is currently the President of
the SOS Childrens Village Board of Directors.

Lisa K. Aronson, Commissioner

Lisa Aronson was elected to the Commission in May 2008, serving the last 10 months of a former commissioner’s term.
She was re-elected in March 2009 for a four-year term. She represents District E, which encompasses the northern
tier of the City above the Sawgrass Expressway. Commissioner Aronson also served on the City’s Planning and Zoning
Board, including one year as Chair.
Commissioner Aronson has served as Director of Government Relations for Keiser University,
Executive Director of the Broward County Charter Review Commission, and Executive
Director of the Broward County Management and Efficiency Study Committee.
Other positions have included Special Projects Coordinator for the Port
Everglades Authority, District Manager to former U.S. Congressman Larry Smith,
and Administrative Assistant to the Broward County Legislative Delegation.
Commissioner Aronson has a Master of Public Administration degree from Florida Atlantic
University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from the
University of Florida. She currently volunteers as a mentor to a group of 30
girls on a monthly basis at Atlantic Tech High School in Coconut Creek for
the Women of Tomorrow organization.
