The Community Service Aides are assigned to the Road Patrol Division. CSA's assist in support services such as traffic accident investigation (writing crash reports and issuing citations at crash scenes), crime scene processing (developing fingerprints, taking photographs), traffic control and taking reports of non criminal incidents.
CSA's are also utilized by other divisions within the Department, such as Administration, Property, Traffic Unit and Investigations.
The Community Service Aides are an integral part of the Coconut Creek Police Department.

The Coconut Creek Law Enforcement Explorers is a youth program affiliated with Learning for Life. It provides a means through which young men and women may decide through actual experience if they would like to pursue a career in law enforcement. The program provides young people the opportunity for positive community involvement, and fosters a greater sense of understanding between the community and the Police Department.
Post activities are concerned primarily with citizen involvement and community service.
The Explorers are also provided with police related education and experience. They are given the opportunity
to enjoy organized recreational and competitive events such as honor guard and firearms instruction. Explorers
also have the opportunity to accumulate community service hours through their activities with the Post. Post No. 18's advisors are a combination of certified police officers, reserve police
officers and civilian advisors. The Post is always expanding its goals and seeking interested young
adults. If you are interested in a possible career in law enforcement, this is an excellent opportunity
to learn about the police profession in the field with actual officers.  Training
All new post members are required to attend two monthly meetings
and complete the basic training requirements. Basic training includes a four
hour
block of study in each of the Department’s specialized units.

The Ride-Along
Program
This program offers Explorers the opportunity to ride with police officers in their patrol cars, giving
them an up close and personal view of police work as it happens. This program gives the Explorer the feeling
of actually being part of the Police Department, and allows better understanding of what officers encounter
on a daily basis. Explorers who have completed basic training and a probation period are eligible to participate
in their unique and exciting program.

Community Service Events
The Explorers represent the Coconut Creek Police Department and the City of Coconut Creek at a variety
of community events throughout the year. These include the Annual Charity Bike Giveaway, Holiday Parades,
Publix Kid Fest, Thanksgiving meal distributions to the needy and law enforcement expositions throughout
Broward County.
Vacation Trips
During the course of the year, the Post participates in many fund raising events.
These funds are set aside for he Explorers to go on various trips during the
summer. Past destinations have included trips
to Busch Gardens and Disney World, camping, and regional competitions. If

Safety Sam
Program
 | Officer Safety Sam greets children. | Coconut Creek's Officer Safety Sam, the short and friendly police robot, performs
safety lessons for groups, organizations, and schools.
Sam can be used very successfully in school classrooms, assemblies, parades, facility tours, mall exhibits,
state and local fairs, and any other setting where your organization is represented.
He is ideal for public service announcements and he is just the right size for teaching children. He can
communicate with them at their level, and when he moves he is non-threatening. He is perfect for hugs
and kisses from small friends and he is agile enough to maneuver easily in school classrooms and other
restricted areas. His smiling face and moving eyes present a positive, friendly image to young and old
alike.
