TRIAD and S.A.L.T.
TRIAD is a national program to prevent crime against Seniors. A cooperative effort between local police chiefs, sheriff's offices and the AARP, TRIAD provides a platform for seniors to exchange information with the police to reduce unwarranted fear of crime.

Each Triad is designed to meet the needs of its particular city and is governed by a senior advisory council, known as Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.).

The SALT Council acts as an advocacy/advisory group and a forumt. Members assist in determining the concerns of the senior citizens, assess existing services for seniors and recommend additional problem solving strategies.

The council meets the third Tuesday of every month at 10:00 am at the Public Meeting Room, next to the City Commission Chambers at the Government Center, 4800 W. Copans Road. Your participation is welcome.

Are You Okay?
Are You Okay? is a free telephone reassurance program for Coconut Creek residents 60 years or older or persons with special needs.

One of the direct results of the S.A.L.T. Council is the Are You OK? Program. In cooperation with the North Broward Hospital District and the Coconut Creek Police Department, this program offers a computerized dialing system created to check up daily on residents in need - free of charge.

Who is Eligible?
Any Coconut Creek resident 60 years or older, or persons who have special needs.

How Does it Work?
Just complete an application form provided by the Coconut Creek Police Department, listing medical problems and emergency contact information. You will then be asked for a specific time of day, convenient to you, to receive your Are You OK? call. Thereafter, at the same time every day, your phone will ring, and a computerized message will ask, "Are You OK?" If you are OK, simply hang up your telephone. If something is wrong, you will be told to hang up and dial 911. If you do not answer the telephone after four calls, an Alert will sound at the Police Department resulting in an officer responding to your home.
