November 5, 2024, Referendum Election Information

Along with the Presidential Election, a Referendum Election will be held on November 5, 2024, in the City of Coconut Creek, Florida, for the electors of the City to vote on one (1) Charter Amendment Ballot Question, proposed by the Coconut Creek City Commission, relating to changes to the City's Charter.

PROPOSED COCONUT CREEK BALLOT:
CHANGE TO ELECTED MAYOR AND FOUR (4) DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS INSTEAD OF FIVE (5) DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS

QUESTION:
SHOULD THE CITY CHARTER BE AMENDED TO CREATE THE POSITION OF AN ELECTED MAYOR AND REDUCE THE NUMBER OF DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS FROM FIVE (5) TO FOUR (4)?

THIS CHANGE WILL REQUIRE MODIFYING THE CITY'S DISTRICT MAP TO PROVIDE ONLY FOUR (4) DISTRICTS AND AN ELECTED MAYOR (ALL ELECTED AT LARGE).

THE MARCH 9, 2027 MUNICIPAL ELECTION WILL BE CANCELED AND ALL ELECTED OFFICES WILL BE ON THE BALLOT AT THE MARCH 13, 2029 MUNICIPAL ELECTION.

Early voting and Vote By Mail are permitted through the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office (SOE).

Deadline to Register to vote (Book Closing): Monday, October 7, 2024 
Vote-By-Mail Ballot Request Deadline: Thursday, October 24, 2024
Early Voting Period: Monday, October 21st - Sunday, November 3rd from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Election Day Voting Period: Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Due to recent changes in Florida law, all requests for Vote-By-Mail ballots expired at the end of 2022. Therefore, any request on file has expired. If you want to continue voting by mail, please submit your request today. Registered voters can visit www.browardvotes.gov to request a Vote-By-Mail Ballot.
