Construction on Copans Road

by Yvonne Lopez | Oct 18, 2021

Broward County authorized their contractor to mobilize for a sidewalk construction project. The scope of work includes the construction of a new east/west pedestrian sidewalk along the north side of Copans Road from NW 42nd Avenue east towards the bike/pedestrian entrance into Tradewinds Park (south entrance).

Residents of Coconut Creek along with the traveling public using westbound Copans Road may experience traffic delays in this area as the outside westbound Copans Road travel lane may be removed from service during certain construction activities which is anticipated to extend through late November. Travelers are encouraged to seek alternative routes, if possible, during this construction.

As a reminder, this is a County roadway improvement project and all public inquiries should be directed to the following County representative:

George ┼×erb─ânescu
Staff Engineer
Public Works Department

The Copans Road sidewalk project is under construction and Broward County staff has notified the City that as of November 1st, the approved MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) plans from Broward County Traffic Engineering , a 24-hour one lane closure is in effect until November 24th.  The westbound outside travel lane on Copans Road will be out of service within the project work zone (approximately 200 feet west of the Turnpike to NW 42nd Avenue).

Broward County Traffic Operations will amend the traffic signal timing for westbound traffic to aid with providing extending green time to the intersection of NW 42nd as well as Lyons Road to assist with moving afternoon peak hour traffic westbound.

The affected commuters are encouraged to seek alternative routes, if possible, during this construction.
